Visit of the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, His Excellency Paul Schmit

From September 30th to October 2nd 2020, Consul Tomasz Kopoczyński had the honor to welcome the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, His Excellency Paul Schmit and his wife. This was His Excellency’s first visit to Tricity, after taking his office on September 15th 2020.

After his arrival, the Ambassador took his first steps to the National Museum in Gdańsk, where he was welcomed by the director of the museum, prof. Jacek Friedrich. His Excellency took advantage of the unique opportunity to see unframed “Last Judgment” by Duthch master Hans Memling.

Later His Excellency, together with the Consul and director Friedrich, went to the European Solidarity Centre to meet director Basil Kerski and Danish Consul in Gdynia Julian F. Skelnik. Together, they visited the permanent exhibition presented in the ESC building.

On the second day, the Ambassador and the Consul met with business representatives from Tricity. They also had lunch with the Mayor of Sopot Jacek Karnowski.
In the afternoon, His Excellency and Consul Kopoczyński, accompanied by their spouses, visited the historic center of Gdańsk. They were accompanied by the Vice-Rector of the University of Gdańsk prof. Arnold Kłonczyński, the president of the Polish Yachting Association Tomasz Chamera, and the jury of the Consul Prize, prof. Marek Wilczyński, prof. Adam Lipszyc and prof. Tomasz Swoboda. The walk ended with dinner at the Kubicki Restaurant.

On the third day, meetings were held with Pomeranian Voivode Dariusz Drelich, Marshal of Pomeranian Voivodeship Mieczysław Struk, President Lech Wałęsa and Mayor of the City of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.
